How to Clean a Coffee MakerHow to Clean a Coffee Maker

Recently my coffee maker has started to brew a terrible pot of coffee! I always buy Tim Hortons brand coffee, I’ve never gotten a bad batch. Cleaning my coffee pot has not fixed the terrible taste. The only thing I can think to do is clean the whole damn set -up. I’ve seen the commercials for CLR. I’d like to avoid using chemicals so I found an interesting way to clean a coffee maker with vinegar.

To clean your coffee make you will need white vinegar and water! This cleaning tutorial is good for a coffee pot that brews nine to twelve cups of coffee at a time.

  1. Take three cups of white vinegar and mix it with six cups of water. If you have a much larger, or smaller coffee maker, make sure you use two parts water to one part vinegar.
  2. Put a coffee filter into your coffee maker.
  3. Allow the coffee maker to finish one full brew cycle.
  4. Empty your coffee pot and run two full brew cycles of water. Each time ensuring there is a new coffee filter in place. This will rinse out any left over vinegar and debris.

If your coffee still tastes bad, it may be time for a new coffee maker.
